Panza + Fink is a small, independent business. In an effort to reduce air miles and support other independent businesses, we are committed to locally made goods of the highest quality.

We created our products as an antidote to the mass produced, poor quality items which have flooded the interiors market in the last few decades. Similarly to within fashion, with time often these pieces fall apart and frequently end up in landfill.

Although our products are contemporary, we focus on exciting, innovative design and do not follow trends. It is our greatest wish that our customers can and do treasure their new purchases for a life time : )

I'm not claiming we are an 'eco company' just yet, but I do try and make the business as environmentally friendly as possible.

Here are a few things we do to make our company sustainable:

All of our postage packaging is compostable, recyclable and/or recycled.

We use cardboard boxes, kraft paper or compostable mailers for postage.

The packing tape is eco friendly ink and are biodegradable.

We are working through stock of our stickers and postcards, before switching to an eco friendly ink option!

Our tassels come in paper bags. The tissue paper we use is acid free and 100% biodegradable. The ribbon is also paper and biodegradable.

I have deliberately made some one off pieces using beautiful vintage fabrics, so people have the option to repurpose. I'm also incredibly careful not to waste anything. The selvedge collection, made using the selvedge offcuts (which is normally chucked), are a testament to this.

In addition, we have an exciting range of fully eco products coming out shortly. These pieces will be made using new, intriguing materials such as pineapple leather, nettle denim and all sorts of weird and wonderful things! I can't wait to share them with you : )

Where possible, we use natural products. All our sewn products are currently made from cotton, linen or beautiful vintage fabrics. If I am buying fabric new, I choose linen because it takes less water to produce and is therefore planet friendlier : )🌍❤

Panza + Fink is about evolving ourselves and the planet to become happier and P+F has a magical thread of spirituality running through it's veins!

How then, you may ask, do I justify using leather? It is not a decision I have made unconsciously. Here is where I'm at:

I still eat meat. I have tried on numerous occasions to be vegetarian, pescatarian, vegan and my body, perhaps having been ill for so many years unfortunately still needs a bit of responsibly sourced meat.

I try to avoid beef altogether and only eat organic. g

In terms of supply:

I make sure all the leather we use has come from reliable and sustainable tanneries. Our leather is always of extremely high quality and most importantly, a direct waste product from the meat industry.

All our suppliers ensure that all environmental rules and regulations are met, in terms of both the chemicals and the processes used. All of our leathers comply with European standards.

Our suppliers regularly submit their leather for REACH and BLC testing. This ensures that our leathers continue to meet with British and EU standards.

New Technology:

As some of you may know, I was ill for many years and I wanted to start P + F many moons before I did. Some of the leather has been waiting for me to be well enough to start trading! Now, I make sure I honour it by using it to make beautiful things to inspire people and bring happiness : )

That said, I do have a keen eye on the new leather alternatives coming out. As I've mentioned in the 'Fully Eco Products' section, I have some new pieces coming out which use a cutting edge product; pineapple leather 🍍🤸‍♀️

So this is where P + F is at currently.

I think it's important to let everybody be on their own path and take personal responsibility to do what they can, in their unique circumstances.

As a small business, making environmentally driven choices is more challenging than it might be, if you have the big bucks at your disposal.

For instance, our eco stationery is 4 times more expensive than the standard alternatives.

Also, because my order quantities are relatively low still, I cannot order a custom, eco alternative, as I would like to have done with our zips.

Thank you for reading this. I wanted to go into this in some detail, because being a conscious force for expansion and good in the world is what P + F at the core is all about : )

If you are not entirely happy with your P + F product, please let us know and we will do out best to rectify the situation as speedily as possible 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️
